1. Some photographers shoot primarily in a studio. Why do you usually photograph in the home of the client?
It's pretty simple really- I take lots of pictures of kids and babies and years of experience has taught me they tend to feel more comfortable at home. When children feel more comfortable I get more relaxed, natural images. And the kids tend to tolerate the camera for longer periods of time so we have more opportunities to capture that one perfect image.

2. If requested can you photograph in a different location?
Of course! I occasionally will meet with clients at a park in town or some other outdoor location of their choosing. I love to shoot outdoors as well as indoors. We also have a small portrait studio at our home if a client prefers a more controlled setting.

3. Do you have suggestions for wardrobe?
Yes- wear only what you feel comfortable in and put your baby into comfortable clothing as well. I will shy away from telling a client not to wear something- if you like it-wear it! If it feels fun- wear it! The point is to have some fun. You can see from the photos in my gallery that not everybody is dressed up with makeup. Sometimes dressing up is great, but sometimes getting photographed in your PJ's is fun too.

4. Are there any special considerations for maternity photos?
Yes- if you want your belly photographed without clothes remember to remove any binding clothing about an hour before the appointment so there aren't any dents in the skin.

5. What if the weather is bad and we hoped for some outdoor shots.
We can easily reschedule or we can try some indoor shots and see how that goes.

6. What if we need to reschedule?
Life is crazy. Life with kids is even crazier. We understand that there are going to be days when your child has a fever or missed a nap or woke up with a big scratch on his face from those hard to cut nails- that's OK. We ask that you do your best to give us 24 hours warning if you need to reschedule but if it happens at the last minute that's ok- we'll just reschedule you for a more convenient time.

7. Why should we use you instead of one of those big studios at the mall?
It's simply a matter of what you are looking for. Those studios are no worse than what we are offering- they are just different. They give you lots of backgrounds and props and reprints for very little money- and that's great. I hope to achieve something different with my photography- something a bit more unique and personal. It all depends on what you hope to get. If you just want some wallets to send out to lots of family members for Easter I say by all means go to the mall. But if you want something you feel thrilled to hang on your wall for years and years I might be the photographer for you.
